Part One
.
Before we get too far, you have to learn to be realistic and practical – It’s the Key to keeping your business alive.
.
While dreaming ‘big’ is not a bad idea at all, you must remember who and where you are and what your limitations may be. It’s a simple matter of what is doable and what isn’t. So starting right with the basics of our business plan are two critical resources: Time and Money.
.
It is all too easy to use your credit card when you are determining how much you can squeeze out of your budget for your business each month. This, however, is a bad idea.
.
This is because you are paying interest on that money and this adds up and all too often we can lose control – even with the best intentions of paying the full balance each month. This happened for Albie many years ago and it created a very damaging effect which took him out of business for a few years.
Do some simple math. Look at your income, versus your expenses to live. Whatever is left over would be what you have to work with. You will be very surprised though if your business is your priority, how much ‘extra’ money you can come up with if you are willing to make some sacrifices. Is that new suit more important than your business? If not, then don’t buy it right now. Is seeing that movie the most important thing on earth? Probably not. And those savings can go toward business…
.
In the same way, analyze what you would need to start up a business online. There will inevitably be advertising and marketing expenses associated with any business. That is probably the first priority since you need to find customers if you are going to make sales, and that is one way to do it quicker. There are many different ways to do these things online and while they are normally a lot less expensive than offline, there are still some necessary expenses to run an online business.
There may be maintenance fees such as your Internet connectivity, hosting, domains, and various membership fees if you are an affiliate or distributor.
These costs are necessary and it is not something you want to skimp on as it is important to have everything working most of the time. You will not necessarily have a lot of other office expenses like printer supplies, paper, phones, etc., as the Internet pretty much works without those things.
.
However, you will probably want some home office equipment eventually.
Everything you spend on your business is tax deductible when you file your taxes as ‘self-employed’ and even if you pay income taxes on the salary you earn from your job, you can still file your taxes for your home business and declare any income and/or deductions. So this is money you may get back in the way of tax benefits in the following year.
At this point in the analysis, you can pretty well see if it is feasible that you can afford to start a business right now with the money you have available. If you are pretty close to the line, then you can possibly find ways to save a few extra dollars so that you can afford your new business.
Trust me, it’s worth it because once you start succeeding in your business, you’ll have plenty of extra dollars to spend on those other things you love!
ADVERTISING TIP:
Now I want to share with you an advertising tip that you can implement and save up for over time:
.
One of the ways that I was able to increase my advertising muscles over time was to save up each month and buy a Lifetime OTO (one time offer) with a good safelist. This allowed me to obtain a lifetime upgraded membership with that safelist and to be able to get a lot of credits each month that I could send ads out through that safelist. Each month, I upgraded to a new one and over the next two years I eventually was an upgraded member in about 100 safelists. This enabled me to be able to send a lot of ads each month without having to do much clicking for credits.
.
This was a great way to slowly become more and more effective with my advertising and save myself a lot of time and energy from having to click as a free member for credits. This was a great way to budget and spend my money and help create more leverage for my business. You can do the same!
.
One of the most important things to realize, however, is to only spend your money on safelists that are effective and that will give you results. I unfortunately did not realize this and over the years many of the sites I upgraded to went out of business. Of course, this is always a risk, but if you use good safelists that get good results, you reduce your risk of this happening to you. For a complete list of all our best safelists, go to your team leader’s downline builder and you will see them listed under “Advertising Sites”.
